Aloha! This is Jayers writing.
Welcome to my website! I’m Jayers, a passionate tattoo artist who began this incredible journey back in 2008. As one of the first few female tattoo artists in Hong Kong, I’ve been fortunate to carve out my path in this beautiful art form, founding Lovinkit Tattoo in Hong Kong along the way. In January 2025, my family and I relocated to the stunning island of Hawai’i, where I continue to embrace the art of tattooing with an open heart and a soulful approach. I truly believe in the interconnectedness of all beings through a single breath, and this philosophy deeply influences my work.
Over the years, I’ve explored and honed my craft across many tattoo genres, but I feel most at home creating expressionism tattoos. These often blend my unique interpretation of traditional tattoo motifs with inspiration drawn from nature—plants, water bodies, and body movements, in particular, hold a special place in my heart. I focus on designing tattoos that flow harmoniously with the wearer’s body, creating pieces that are dynamic, striking, and full of life. Whether in black or color, my goal is to bring out the beauty in every design.
When I let go of my ego and truly listen, I would feel my clients’ skin guiding me while I am creating on them. It is as though bodies speak, subtly suggesting what they need, and I strive to honor this connection by letting my intuition and artistry flow together. This dialogue between the skin and my craft allows me to create work that feels alive - intimately tailored to the individual and their unique story.
In 2015, I took a leap into writing and published a book titled <<墨子----紋身的背後>> (Mozi: Stories behind the tattoos) during a time when tattoos were still considered taboo in Hong Kong. The book, published by Joint Publishing, shares heartfelt tattoo stories from around the city and sold out within three months. It was first of its kind and I was thrilled to see this became a reality and forever change the trajectory of how tattoo is perceived socially. For those interested, copies are still available in public libraries in Hong Kong and Taiwan. There is also e-book version (that I do not get paid for!?). It was written in Traditional Chinese to embrace our culture.
In 2022, I embarked on another exciting project—a YouTube documentary series called 《移紋》"Tattoo Migration." This series highlights the stories behind the "last tattoos" of Hong Kong-ers migrating abroad amidst political changes, offering a window into their deeply personal journeys. The series is in Cantonese, with English subtitles for a broader audience. Alongside this, I found the Asia Bloodborne Pathogens Training program (ABBP), Asia’s first online hygiene training course for the tattoo industry, to promote safety and professionalism in our field.
“We have 2 eyes, 2 ears, 1 mouth; use them in that proportion.”
As an artist, traveler, and lifelong learner, I’ve always sought to push boundaries. In 2023, I launched “Tattoo Flight Club”, a passion project that combines travel and tattooing, providing young artists with opportunities to connect with the world and fostering creative collaborations among like-minded individuals.
In 2024, I began specializing in realistic nipple and areola tattoos for breast cancer survivors, mastectomy patients, and the transgender community. This work holds deep meaning for me, adding to my experience in restorative tattooing for burn scars and other dermatological conditions.
My tattooing journey began under the mentorship of Kenny Chin at Solo Tattoo in 2008. Since then, I have participated in over 40 tattoo conventions, guest spots, and art exhibitions across four continents. To continue the heritage, I have mentored a small handful of successful tattoo artists, namely and in the order of Alan Yu, Lexi Liu, Mike Chan, Charlotte Yau, and Marco Mui. Beyond tattooing, I enjoy spending time with my family, free-diving, brainstorming for my next book, and volunteering as a guest speaker at NGOs, schools, and universities to inspire the next generation. With a family background in medicine and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, I bring a unique blend of knowledge and experience to my craft, striving to leave a meaningful mark on both the industry and the lives of those I tattoo.
Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to creating something beautiful with you!
